Austin Xiang Yun Temple Devotees Travel to Dallas to Take Precepts and Find Inner Peace at Venerable Hui Kai's Lecture

To nurture Buddhists with right faith and propagate the Buddha's precepts, Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Dallas Temple hosted the "2026 Fo Guang Shan Texas Temple Taking Refuge and Five Precepts Ceremony" on July 26. The event was co-organized by Xiang Yun Temple and Chung Mei Temple, with FGS Deputy Abbot Venerable Hui Kai respectfully invited to preside over the ceremony. As it is a rare opportunity for such a ceremony to be held in the Texas area, it attracted nearly 200 attendees, among whom nearly 100 resolved to receive the precepts, officially becoming disciples of the Triple Gem.

Led by Superintendent Venerable Jue Ji, along with Venerable Yong Jia and Venerable Yi Song, a group of over 20 individuals from Austin's Xiang Yun Temple traveled to attend the event. The group included new preceptees, those renewing their precepts, dedicated volunteers, and observers. Before the ceremony, the preceptees assisted one another in putting on their Haiqing (black robes) and Manyi (brown precept robes), welcoming the solemn ceremony with utmost reverence and demonstrating a spirit of diligent cultivation and devotion to upholding the precepts.

In the afternoon, Venerable Hui Kai delivered a lecture titled "Sustainable Management of Life: A Seamless Transition from This Life to the Next." With a lively and humorous approach, he expounded on life and death education, pointing out that birth and death are natural processes of life's continuation. He encouraged the audience to apply the wisdom of the Dharma to let go of fear and regret, learn to live at ease, and peacefully face the completion of life. Participating devotees expressed that the trip not only strengthened their spiritual faith through receiving the precepts but also provided them with profound inspiration and immense benefit from the Dharma talk.
