By Humanistic Buddhism Correspondent Zhiding, Austin

The week-long "Three Acts of Goodness Children's Kung Fu Summer Camp" at Fo Guang Shan Xiangyun Temple concluded with a closing ceremony on June 14th in the Main Shrine Hall. Venerable Jueji, together with Venerables Yisong, Yongjia, and Ruyuan, joined nearly 60 campers, parents, and volunteers to celebrate the children's achievements from the past week. The event was filled with joy, gratitude, and heartfelt moments.

Venerable Jueji remarked that the children demonstrated remarkable progress during the camp. Through learning Buddhist etiquette, practicing mindful dining, participating in temple service, and experiencing community living, they gradually incorporated the spirit of the Three Acts of Goodness: doing good deeds, speaking good words, and thinking good thoughts into their daily lives.

During the closing presentation, campers showcased a variety of performances, including kung fu demonstrations, songs from Sounds of Humanity, a Buddhist story drama, and ethereal drum performances. Their confidence, teamwork, and stage presence earned enthusiastic applause from the audience. The event also featured displays of DIY projects and personalized "Treasure Boxes," which documented the campers' experiences, learning achievements, and creative expressions throughout the week.

A highlight of the ceremony was the participation of several Fo Guang youth members who had attended the summer camp in previous years. They returned to serve as volunteers, demonstrating Buddhist ritual instruments and chanting practices while sharing their personal learning experiences. Their stories encouraged younger participants to deepen their connection with Buddhist teachings.

During the ceremony, Venerable Jueji also led the congregation in reciting the Prayer for Expectant Mothers, offering blessings for Xiaojie Du, leader of the temple's incense-lighting group, and her baby.

Parents shared that after returning home, their children had begun taking the initiative to lead family members in reciting the Four-Line Gatha and practicing Buddhist etiquette, reflecting the positive influence of the camp. Venerable Jueji encouraged everyone to continue putting the Three Acts of Goodness into practice in their daily lives and expressed gratitude to the volunteers and caring mothers whose support made the camp possible.

The summer camp concluded with joyful group photos, leaving the children with treasured memories filled with growth, learning, friendship, and warmth.
