Xiangyun Temple Warmly Celebrates Mother’s Day and Promoting Filial Piety Through Gratitude and Arts

To promote the virtue of filial piety, Fo Guang Shan Xiangyun Temple held a Mother’s Day celebration on May 10. The event was jointly organized by the Austin Fo Guang Association Chinese Subchapter and the Young Adult Division Groups 1 and 2, bringing together nearly 80 devotees and guests in a warm gathering. The celebration included sutra chanting and blessings, a recitation of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s Prayer for Parents and Loved Ones, tea and flower offerings, artistic performances, mothers’ sharing sessions, and cake cutting, creating a heartfelt and joyful atmosphere. The event opened with a Mother’s Day tribute video produced by Alex from Young Adult Group 2. Youth participants also presented songs, musical performances, and martial arts demonstrations, showcasing their creativity and energy.

Dr. Wu Qilan shared wisdom on physical and mental wellness through Buddhist teachings, encouraging everyone to cultivate mindfulness and inner peace. Venerable Jueji and Association President Zhou Li also encouraged attendees to foster harmonious families through gratitude and compassion. The event concluded with attendees exchanging blessings and taking group photos together, bringing the warm and meaningful Mother’s Day celebration to a joyful close.
