Austin Xiangyun Temple: A Date with the Venerable — Promoting the Spirit of the Three Acts of Goodness

By Human Realm News Correspondent Zhiding, Austin

To promote youth education in Humanistic Buddhism, Venerable Jueji, Superintendent of Xiangyun Temple, together with Venerable Yongjia, planned a training program titled "A Date with the Venerable," which officially launched on February 21. Members of the Fo Guang Light Youth Group II, including Alex, Claire, Alwin, and Olivia, participated with enthusiasm, demonstrating their dedication to learning nurtured by the Dharma.

The curriculum combines ritual instruments and chanting practice, and incorporates a "Little Tea Master" tea ceremony experience. Centered on the principle of the Three Acts of Goodness—do good deeds, speak good words, and have good thoughts—the program guided students to cultivate mindfulness and compassion, encouraging them to apply these to body, speech, and mind. In class, participants offered service with focus and reverence, appreciating the serenity of Chan and tea as one flavor. Participant Haoyu remarked that the course was rewarding and expressed gratitude for the Venerables' guidance and the joy of the practice. The event came to a successful close, reflecting a meaningful outcome for all.
