Xiangyun Temple Hosts Paragon Prep Elementary School World Culture Program Visit

On February 5th, Xiangyun Temple welcomed a group of 30 teachers and students from Paragon Prep Elementary School's World Culture Program. The school serves students from kindergarten through sixth grade and emphasizes learning through enjoyable and engaging experiences, supporting balanced development in academics, social skills, and emotional management. It is a well-regarded private school in the community. The purpose of this visit was to help students gain an understanding of Buddhist beliefs and temple life.

The guided tour included viewing a video on the life of the Buddha, visiting the main shrine hall and outdoor grounds, and learning about the temple's history and construction. Inside the main hall, guides introduced the Three Buddhas, Avalokitesvara (Guanyin) Bodhisattva, and Ksitigarbha (Dizang) Bodhisattva. They also explained the meaning of the Diamond Sutra, Buddhist ritual instruments, the life and contributions of Venerable Master Hsing Yun, and Fo Guang Shan's global efforts in promoting the Dharma.

The outdoor tour featured the Mountain Gate, Zen Garden, Zizai Guanyin Pavilion, the Eightfold Path Walkway, the Ruyi Guanyin statue, and the Six Paramitas Bell, guiding students to learn the spiritual values of the Eightfold Path and the Six Paramitas. The group then visited Water Drop Teahouse, where teachers and students had an exchange with Venerable Jueji. The venerable shared insights on tea meditation and taught the students simple Chinese greetings.

The visit concluded on a warm and joyful note with tea tasting, the presentation of commemorative gifts, and a group photo taken beneath the temple archway.
