Cloud-Based Co-learning of The Great Treatise on the Perfection of Wisdom — Practicing Hearing, Reflection, and Cultivation in Modern Life

Written by Xi Xiu

In the midst of busy modern life, eleven students have skillfully utilized technology to study the Buddhist classic "The Great Treatise on the Perfection of Wisdom" through Zoom online platform every Thursday evening since mid-2023. On December 18, the students followed the learning spirit of "hearing, reflection, and cultivation," progressively deepening their understanding of Buddhist teachings and applying the wisdom of the Dharma to daily life.

Special thanks to the International Translation Center for publishing the bilingual Chinese-English edition, which through clear and fluent translations effectively helps students overcome reading barriers and better grasp the essential meaning of the classic. The study group adopts a model of rotating leadership in reading, compassionate explanations by Venerable Jueji, and interactive discussions, transforming the profound treatise into a well-organized and easily digestible learning experience.

Through in-depth study, students have rediscovered the true meaning of "merit," understanding that merit is not merely the accumulation of blessings, but also the cultivation of life transformation and the provisions for the Bodhisattva path. This learning approach also resonates with Venerable Master Hsing Yun's practice of "Humanistic Buddhism," embodying the spirit of the "Three Acts of Goodness and Four Givings," supporting one another in collective practice, establishing firm faith, and allowing the light of wisdom to continue growing.
