Xiang Yun Temple Participates in “Silk Road Charity Gala” — Caring for Vulnerable Asian Families and Building a Road of Hope

On November 1, Venerable Jue Ji, supervisor of Xiang Yun Temple, and Youth Group representative Aryk Tyagi were invited to attend the Silk Road Charity Gala hosted by the Asian Family Support Services of Austin (AFSSA). The event aimed to raise funds to assist Asian and immigrant families affected by domestic violence, gathering community care and collective support.

Around 300 guests attended the gala, creating a warm and lively atmosphere. Upon arrival, Venerable Jue Ji warmly interacted with attendees. The evening began with a youth dragon dance and traditional cultural performances, showcasing the diversity of Asian heritage. During the ceremony, Venerable Jue Ji took photos and exchanged greetings with the organizers. Several survivors courageously shared their stories of healing and rebirth, moving the audience deeply.

The event raised a total of $162,000. The former mayor Mr. Kirt Watson of Austin and his wife attended to present awards honoring individuals and organizations for their outstanding community contributions. The grand finale featured a vibrant Indian dance performance, bringing the evening to a joyful close.

After the event, Venerable Jue Ji and Aryk expressed their gratitude to the organizers and discussed opportunities for future collaboration. Their participation reflected not only the unity and compassion of the Asian community but also the spirit of Humanistic Buddhism, transforming love and care into a warm light for those in suffering.
