Fo Guang Day and Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration at Xiang Yun Temple Music and Culture Intertwined to Touch the Heart

Austin, TX – October 4, 2025 – Xiang Yun Temple of Fo Guang Shan hosted its annual “Austin Fo Guang Day” and Mid-Autumn Celebration, welcoming more than a hundred participants from diverse backgrounds.

The program highlighted the temple’s history, recalling the 1994 groundbreaking ceremony led by Venerable Master Hsing Yun, when the City of Austin officially proclaimed September 10 as “Fo Guang Day.” Since then, local Fo Guang members have gathered each fall to celebrate with gratitude and a commitment to Humanistic Buddhism and community service.

This year’s celebration featured 19 visiting students from Germany’s Robert Schumann Hochschule, who offered an exquisite classical music performance, along with uplifting songs from the Xiang Yun Temple Community Choir.

Youth representative Rishi Subramani shared insights from his participation in the Berlin International Youth Leadership Conference and the North American “White Elephant” leadership program, highlighting the role of young people in merging Dharma and modern innovation.

The evening concluded in a spirit of harmony, joy, and cultural exchange, reflecting Xiang Yun Temple’s dedication to integrating religion, culture, and education.
