Xiangyun Temple “Emperor Liang Repentance Service” Concludes Successfully Showcasing New Trends of Localization and Youth Participation

The four-day Xiangyun Temple Emperor Liang Repentance Service” concluded on August 24, with over 130 devotees in attendance. This year saw a notable increase in participation, with the community becoming younger and more locally rooted, reflecting the temple’s progress in promoting Humanistic Buddhism.

In addition to gratitude for the support of Dharma masters from three temples across the U.S., this year marked the first large-scale participation of the English Sub-chapter in preparing meals, offering fruits, and arranging the venue. Their seamless collaboration with the Chinese Sub-chapter demonstrated collective effort and fresh vitality.

Venerable Jue Ji, the monastery managing director, explained that the core of the Emperor Liang Repentance lies in refuge, cause and effect, gratitude, repentance, dedication of merit, and the bodhi mind, guiding participants to deepen their faith. Venerable Hui Ren, during the *Three Periods Recitation*, encouraged practitioners to apply “listening, reflection, and practice” in cultivation, emphasizing that compassion and wisdom transform all phenomena into the Dharma.

Several verenables also prayed that through repentance, participants may increase their blessings and wisdom, dedicate merits to all beings, and further the localization and rejuvenation of Buddhism—ensuring the continued flourishing of the Buddhist spirit.
