Coram Deo Academy Dallas Campus 中學生來寺參訪

In the afternoon of May 19, twenty-two 9th-grade students from the Dallas Campus of Coram Deo Academy visited Xiang Yun temple, accompanied by their teachers. Their visit coincided with the Buddha’s birthday and the main shrine was set up for the celebration. Ten year-old volunteer Noelani Burt demonstrated the etiquette of bathing the Buddha. After the demo, the visiting students took turns bathing the Buddha. Venerable Jue Ji introduced the meaning of the “Triple Gem” and the im-portance of exercising “Three Acts of Goodness “ in daily life.

Mrs. Barbara Hewitt, president of BLIA subchapter, provided a guided tour of the Zen garden. Afterwards they gathered in the tea room to observe the Zen Tea Cer-emony demonstrated by volunteer Yuki Burt. The students learned the art of pre-paring tea and the etiquette of tasting it.

Ms. Rebekah Querfeld, one of the teachers who led the visiting group, said that this visit to Xiang Yun temple was a great opportunity for students to learn about Bud-dhism, and it was even more exciting to watch the Zen Tea ceremony in person. Another teacher expressed great interest in the Noble Four Truths and felt that the Buddha's teachings are worth learning.
