Mother's Day Celebration
On May 9th, Xiang Yun Temple and BLIA-Austin held a Mother’s Day celebration. After recitation of "The Filial Piety Sutra " and the "Mother’s Day Prayer" written by Venerable Hsing Yun, every mother received a One-Stroke calligraphy scroll by Venerable Hsing Yun, macaron cookies, carnations, and chocolate candies. Volunteers served tea to all mothers as well.
The highlight of the event was performances by 9-year-old granddaughter Qiu Puqin and 6-year-old grandson of temple senior devotee Jin Chiu. The sister and brother duo demonstrated martial arts and received a big round of applause. Brothers Chen Jingyuan (11 years old) and Chen Yisheng (7 years old), grandsons of senior devotee Joe Chen, played the electronic piano with confidence. Mrs. Jian Hui and two of her friends performed the song “Mom Is The Best In the World” on the zither, a Chinese musical instrument. The audience was deeply moved by the melody.
Over 50 people attended the event, most are family members. Senior devotee Shi Zhen was accompanied by 10 children and grandchildren to celebrate the Mother’s Day event together. The event was full of joy and happiness.
