Three Acts of Goodness Family Award

On April 18, BLIA-Austin hosted a virtual Award Ceremony for the “Three Acts of Goodness Families.” To qualify for the award, the family must have three generations who are all Buddhists, who dedicatedly volunteered and supported the Temples. Three award-winning families of BLIA-Austin shared their experiences with Buddhism through pre-recorded videos.

Families of Brother Jin Chiu and Joe Chen started their Dharma Journey at Fo Guang Shan temples after they arrived in U.S. The second generation learned from their parents, started volunteering at temples and later on had a Buddhist wedding at Xiang Yun temple. Now, the third generation also took refuge in the Triple Gem.

In the videos, all the grandchildren, aged from 6 to 10, fluently recited the “Three Acts of Goodness” and the “Four Givings”. Kungfu summer camps and delicious vegetarian food are their favorite things at Xiang Yun Temple. The children’s words revealed their true feelings.

Family of Brother Chunyuan Chu originally came from Vietnam. The couple grew up in Buddhist families. Since moving to Austin, Xiang Yun Temple became their second home. Recently, the family’s 4th generation came into the world and hopefully they too, will carry on the Buddhist tradition.

BLIA-Austin President Elaine Hsu presented the certificate, plaque and a bouquet of flowers to each family. We sincerely hope that Buddhism will be passed on from generation to generation and flourish in America.
